| Ideas & Techniques
It doesn't take a special technique to make a piece of pottery with which you will be happy. However, if you would like some guidance, we are happy to work with you to create the desired effect. Our studio is full of examples of other people's projects, and we also have idea and instruction books that you are welcome to use.
- Experiment with different-sized brushes, dabbing or wiping with sponges using paint or water, and "paint pens" with which you can paint thin lines.
- Use stencils and stamps to add designs to your piece.
- Bring a printout of a design you would like to copy, or we will help you look up a design on the Internet on our studio computer.
- When making paint strokes, think in terms of shapes - circles, ovals, squares, triangles, spirals, dots, lines, etc.
- Keep in mind that sometimes the best results begin with a happy accident!
